GEC Acquires Local Firm
Baton Rouge, Louisiana – February 21, 2011 – G.E.C., Inc. (GEC), a leading provider of engineering, planning, and consulting services, completed its acquisition of Krebs, LaSalle, LeMieux Consultants, Inc. (Krebs LaSalle), a South Louisiana engineering and planning firm.
The addition of Krebs LaSalle to GEC creates one of the largest Louisiana-based consulting firms. The combined firm name will be G.E.C., Inc. All employees will be retained, and their offices will remain open.
Stephen Spohrer, P.E., GEC’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “This acquisition represents a significant milestone in GEC’s strategy to offer more services to clients and expand our geographic reach.”
Shelby LaSalle, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of the 75-year-old Krebs LaSalle group, will serve as Executive Vice President of GEC and retain his current offices in addition to an office in Baton Rouge. LaSalle said, “We also were looking for an opportunity to grow and expand our firm, and GEC is the vehicle we chose to make ourselves bigger and better.”
GEC and Krebs LaSalle have a partnership dating back to the 1990s. Most significantly, the companies work side-by-side as the Consulting Engineers for the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission, providing a full array of professional services including engineering and program management for the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
GEC President Verdi Adam, P.E., a founder of the firm, said he’s proud to join forces with an established group of professionals like Krebs LaSalle. “GEC is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and this new partnership is a wonderful way to kick off the next 25 years.”
As a result of this acquisition GEC now has a stronger presence in the Greater New Orleans region. The firm’s services will continue to include engineering, planning, energy, and construction services.
GEC is headquartered in Baton Rouge, and office locations include Metairie, Lafayette, and Mandeville, Louisiana; Gulfport, Mississippi; Jacksonville and West Palm Beach, Florida; and Arlington, Virginia.
