Capitol City Republican Women Kick Off New Year

Capital City Republican Women started the new year off with 70 attendees discussing education with guest speakers, Paul Pastorek – State Superintendent of Education and Caroline Roemer Shirley – Executive Director for the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools. Stefanie Ross-Toombs led the prayer. Teliyah Keller, a first grade student at Northwestern Elementary in Zachary, Louisiana led the pledge. Tenesia Keller talked about Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday as a moment in history. Speakers discussed the problems, crisises, and solutions regarding public education.

Michael Tipton, Executive Director for Teach for America attended and distributed pertinent information. New members added were Former Governor Buddy Roemer and Scarlett Roemer, Charlene “Tootie” Day, Buddy Amoroso, Terri Piercy, Elaine Welch, Ellen Grout, Jennifer Madsen, Besty Barnes, Attorneys Janice Montague-Myles, Dana Brown and Christopher Alexander.
