Unemployment Insurance Claims Report November 5, 2010
BATON ROUGE – Initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) for the week ending October 30, 2010, increased to 3,596 from the previous week’s total of 3,496. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending October 31, 2009, figure of 4,533.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 3,717 from the previous week’s average of 3,753.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending October 30, 2010, decreased to 48,599 from the previous week’s total of 48,762. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending October 31, 2009, figure of 60,755.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 48,940 from the previous week’s average of 49,396.
In October all regular unemployment insurance claimants who have received at least one check during the reference month in Louisiana decreased by 2,876 from 41,936 in September 2010 to 39,060 in October 2010.
