Sangisetty: “Jeff Landry Lied to Senior Citizens”

October 19, 2010

“There are over 100,000 beneficiaries of Social Security in the 3rd, and they deserve honesty from their congressman.”

HOUMA, La. — Ravi Sangisetty, Democratic nominee for Congress in Louisiana’s Third District, said this district’s next congressman must stand up for our senior citizens and be honest with them.

“My position on Social Security is clear,” Sangisetty said. “We must protect the promise we’ve made to our seniors. We cannot raise the retirement age, reduce benefits or cut cost of living increases.”

Sangisetty for Congress Campaign Manager Julienne said Jeff Landry is lying to our greatest generation.

“Jeff Landry is a liar. He’s sending out flyers saying he is against raising the retirement age,” Uhlich said. “In two televised debates, he said that the retirement age should be raised from 65 years old to 70. He also said programs such as Social Security and Medicare should be ended and replaced by charitable organizations.”

Uhlich said Landry is dangerous for our seniors.

“It’s morally reprehensible to lie to seniors about something as important as Social Security,” she said. “There are over 100,000 beneficiaries of Social Security in the 3rd District, and they deserve honesty from their congressman.”
