Newly Elected School Board Members Conduct Private Meeting

October 12, 2010

Baton Rouge – Newly elected members of the Baton Rouge School Board meeting met at Mansurs on Monday. Kenyetta Nelson-Smith*, Evelyn Ware-Jackson, Connie Bernard, Craig Freeman, Barbara Reich Freiberg, David Tatman, and Jill Dyason apparently were conducting a private meeting where school board issues were being discussed. In this discussion, our sources have stated that the discussion turned to School Board President Jerry Arbour.

If our sources our correct, Jill Dyason will be the next School Board President while Craig Freeman will serve as Vice President. The other goal of this meeting was to recognize that if these seven voted together on every issue, the other five members could not stop them from achieving their goals. Our sources also inform us that a private businessman picked up the tab for the meal at Mansurs and a representative of the Baton Rouge Chamber was also in attendance.

There are questions that InsideLouisianaNews.com will be investigating and report back to you our findings.

UPDATE
*Editor’s Correction: Kenyetta Nelson Smith was invited to the meeting, however, Kenyetta Nelson-Smith did not attend this meeting. Our understanding is that both Connie Bernard (who did attend) and Kenyetta Nelson Smith shared the concern that this was unethical or possibly illegal to hold this meeting. The story is left alone with her name being scratched out. We apologize to Kenyetta Nelson-Smith.
