Landry’s Victory Speech

October 4, 2010

NEW IBERIA, LA – Small businessman and attorney Jeff Landry won 65% of the vote yesterday to secure the Republican nomination for Congress in the Louisiana Republican runoff election. The 3rd Congressional seat is open, having been vacated by Charlie Melancon who is seeking another office. Below is the text of Landry’s speech delivered last night:

Thank you.

2 down 1 to go.

This is your night. Tonight belongs to everyone who believes our country is moving in the wrong direction.

We need to create jobs and as your next Congressman I will work to grow our economy, not grow the government.

I will work to restore our coast and end the moratoriums by ending the liberal rule in Washington.

I will work to improve and lower the cost of health care, not increase red tape or put the government between you and your doctor.

This is your campaign, and I’m proud to just be a part of it. Let’s enjoy tonight because tomorrow we must get right back on the campaign trail and start working to defeat the liberal policies destroying our nation.

I want to thank you all for your hard work and your belief in our message. I want to thank my wife Sharon and son JT. I want to thank the staff, and all those that supported this campaign – time to get to work again.

I want to thank General Downer for running a race and for the views we share on some of the critical issues.

I look forward to working with every concerned citizen who believes we need to get our country back on the right track.

It is time to put South Louisiana back to Work. It’s time to put American back to work, and it’s time to put Washington to work for us. It’s time to get the liberal Congress off the back of the American people; off the backs of small business; off the backs of those that are trying to create jobs, and let us get our economy working again.

Together we can make it happen. Thank y’all. Let’s get back to work.
