Downer earns Alliance for Good Government endorsement and ‘A’ from NRA

September 14, 2010

SOUTH LOUISIANA – Retired Major General Hunt Downer recently earned the endorsement from the Alliance for Good Government and an ‘A’ rating from the National Rifle Association. Downer received this endorsement and rating based on his record of open, honest government and standing for gun ownership rights in defense of the 2nd Amendment.

The Alliance for Good Government’s endorsement was earned by Downer after the Alliance held a forum where all candidates for Congress were present, including the democrat. Downer also received the Alliance’s endorsement in 2003.

Downer is the only candidate in the race for the 3rd congressional District in South Louisiana to earn the ‘A’ rating from the NRA. This rating, the highest given, is only earned by those candidates who have an actual pro-gun rights voting record.

“I am honored to receive this endorsement and rating again from two very well respected groups. I have always worked for open and honest government and if my uniform didn’t tell people how I felt about gun rights then my voting record sure did,” said retired Major General Hunt Downer.
