Cao Pays Last Respects to Slain Marine at Funeral

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (LA-02) paid his last respects to Marine Sgt. Joseph Bovia, killed August 31 in the line of duty in Afghanistan. Cao attend funeral services for the Kenner native this morning at the First Baptist Church on Canal Boulevard in New Orleans.

Cao said, “Our community and our nation have lost a great man, one who gave his all for his country and those values we all hold dear. Sgt. Bovia’s sacrifice serves as a reminder that the precious freedoms we enjoy in America are bought with the precious blood of our heroes. Sgt. Bovina will forever stand as a role model for young people called to serve their country with honor in time of need.”

Cao expressed his deepest personal condolences to Sgt. Bovia’s parents, Teresa Moorhead and Herbert Joseph Bovia, Jr., his brother, Matthew Pierce Bovia, and sister-in-law, Kaitlin Ward Bovia.
