Vitter: “Melancon Refuses All Tea Party Debates”

September 2, 2010

First, Charlie Melancon called town hall meeting participants who questioned his support of the horrible Obama stimulus, bailout and cap and tax “fear mongers” and now, rather than accept their offer to debate the issues impacting Louisiana families and Tea Party members, Melancon has flat out stated he wants nothing to do with the Tea Party and won’t accept any of their debate offers.

Not in Baton Rouge, not in Shreveport, Monroe, Abbeyville or Zwolle. No Tea Party debates for Melancon. Make your voice heard. Call his campaign and ask him why he thinks your voices are not important: (225) 924-7676

Sadly, we should not be surprised, Charlie Melancon did not hold any town hall meetings during the Obamacare debate last summer. And now, rather than accept their invitations to discuss important issues facing our country, Melancon equates tea parties to the far-left fringe group MoveOn.Org.

We must send a message to the liberals in Washington, like Charlie Melancon: stop the massive expansion of the federal government’s influence in our everyday lives. And, while Melancon runs and hides, I will continue fighting to stop him and his liberal allies from adding to the debt and raising taxes to pay for it.

All I can say is – sorry Charlie. The Tea Party is no “fringe” group. They are our friends, neighbors and members of many Louisiana families.

Make your voice heard. Call Charlie Melancon’s office at (225) 924-7676 and tell him that he can’t marginalize, demonize, or ignore you.

I hope you will join me and help stop the massive expansion of the federal government’s influence in our everyday lives.
