Downer issues statement on election results

August 29, 2010

SOUTH LOUISIANA – Retired Major General Hunt Downer issued the following statement upon receiving the final results of the Republican Primary Election in the 3rd Congressional district:

“I am excited about the next month talking about the issues that affect South Louisiana and the future of America with the residents of South Louisiana. I got in this race to build a better America for our children and grandchildren. I have always run a race on the issues and am confident the next phase of this campaign will be focused on the future and not the past.

I would like to thank Mr. Magar for running an honorable race on the issues.

To summarize the results of this race: who says one vote doesn’t matter? Tomorrow, we begin reaching out to those residents of South Louisiana that may not have participated today and look forward to earning the support of those who supported other candidates. Ninety days ago we started and today we are in a run-off focused on the future of America.

Tomorrow, we take up the fight for our Country, our Children, and our Coast.”
