Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to Hold 2 Town Hall Meetings in SE Louisiana on Thursday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (LA-02) announced Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, the Administration’s point man for Gulf Coast restoration following the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, will hold two town hall meetings in Southeast Louisiana on Thursday, August 5th. The public is invited to attend.

The meetings will give the Secretary an opportunity to have direct interaction with the people of Louisiana and hear about their ideas, concerns and questions.

Cao said, “Secretary Mabus’s role is to help with long-term Gulf recovery, and he sees this kind of public engagement as crucial. The aim is to ensure that the future of the Gulf is defined by the people of the Gulf.”

The town halls will be held at the following locations and times.

Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center
346 Civic Center Boulevard
Houma, LA 70360
Noon-1:30 p.m.

Buras Auditorium
35619 Highway 11
Buras, LA 70041
6:00-7:30 p.m.

Cao himself will attend the town hall in Houma. He said, “I hope the public will take advantage of this opportunity to have a say in the recovery of our coast by attending at least one of these two meetings and letting our voice be heard.”
