Vitter Comments on Removal of Oil Well Cap

June 23, 2010

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today released the following statement regarding the latest setback in the efforts to stop the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico:

“Today we learned that the containment system was damaged and had to be removed, leaving the well totally uncapped and gushing oil into the Gulf once again,” said Vitter. “This is obviously a very disappointing development in a long line of setbacks, and Louisianians are frankly tired of excuses from the government and BP.”
