Governor Jindal Signs Bills into Law

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced that he has signed the following bills passed by the Legislature into law, bringing the total to 321 bills signed into law to date:

HOUSE

HB 46 – Hutter
This bill requires grade appropriate classroom instruction on dating violence.

HB 223 – Danahay
This bill relates to the commissioners of waterworks districts in Calcasieu Parish.

HB 251 – P. Smith
This bill relates to the qualifications of the state superintendent of education.

HB 388 – P. Smith
This bill relates to leaves of absence for teachers who transfer to charter schools.

HB 580 – P. Smith
This bill authorizes special schools to share services and functions.

HB 974 – Hoffmann
This bill relates to certain certification requirements for principals.

HB 1029 – Hoffmann
This bill adds a unit of civics to the Louisiana public high school curriculum.

HB 1180 – P. Smith
This bill clarifies that local public school districts may use state funds to purchase computer hardware.

HB 1271 – St. Germain
This bill changes the membership of La. Emergency Medical Services Certification Commission.

SENATE

SB 407 – McPherson
This bill removes authority for record check fee for Class D and E drivers licenses and requires a refund.

SB 635 – Long
This bill relates to DOTD stationary scale and mobile police transfer of authority.
