Sen. Landrieu Meets With Widows of Deepwater Horizon Victims

June 11, 2010

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., met today with the widows of three of the men killed when the Deepwater Horizon exploded on April 20. Sen. Landrieu met with Courtney Kemp, of Louisiana, wife of Roy Kemp; Natalie Roshto, of Mississippi, wife of Shane Roshto; and Shelly Anderson, of Texas, wife of Jason Anderson.

“I was touched to have the opportunity to meet with these three courageous women,” Sen. Landrieu said. “Their dedication to honoring their loved-ones’ memories by fighting for justice shows that our best human qualities often shine brightest during the darkest days. I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that these women and the families of the other Deepwater Horizon victims get everything they deserve from BP and any other party responsible for this terrible tragedy. They have endured enough heartbreak. They should not have to spend years fighting tooth and nail for what they rightfully deserve.”

“We appreciate Senator Landrieu taking the time to meet with us,” said the family members in a joint statement. “We look forward to continuing to work with her to make sure justice is served.”
