Vitter Expresses Opposition to Chatigny Nomination

June 10, 2010

(Washington, D.C.) — U.S. Sen. David Vitter today expressed his opposition to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s approval of Judge Robert Chatigny’s nomination to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals:

“I’m deeply disappointed that the Democrat majority on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to approve Judge Chatigny today, and I will oppose his nomination when it comes to the Senate floor,” said Vitter. “He has an extremely troubling, even bizarre, record as a judge, going so far as to express sympathy for a sociopathic serial killer. I hope that’s not the kind of ‘empathy’ President Obama is looking for in his judicial nominees.”
