Landrieu Comments on Resignation of Dr. Sally Clausen

June 8, 2010

WASHINGTON — United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-LA, commented on today’s resignation of Louisiana Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Sally Clausen. Dr. Clausen became Louisiana’s sixth Commissioner of Higher Education in July 2008. In addition to her service as Commissioner, Dr. Clausen served as of President of the University of Louisiana System and President of Southeastern Louisiana University.

Sen. Landrieu said:

“I was surprised and saddened by the resignation of Dr. Clausen after more than thirty years in the field of education. Louisiana is going to miss her dedication, vision and leadership. She was a real problem solver and defender of education. With budget cuts and program shortfalls facing Louisiana, I know this has been a very difficult time for Dr. Clausen and other higher education leaders in our state.”
