Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Lee Mallett to the State Licensing Board for Contractors

BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Lee Mallett to the State Licensing Board for Contractors.

The State Licensing Board for Contractors serves to regulate the practice of contractors by examining all applicants and issuing licenses or permits to those possessing the necessary qualifications.

According to statute, the board is comprised of 15 gubernatorial appointments, including at least one member from each congressional district, at least one member selected from nominations submitted by the NAACP and at least one member selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana Business League. Appointments are subject to senate confirmation and include:

•Four licensed contractors in the field of highway and street construction selected from nominations submitted by board of directors of the Louisiana Asphalt Pavement Association, Inc;
•Four licensed contractors in the fields of building and/or industrial construction selected from nominations submitted by the board of directors of the Louisiana Associated General Contractors Inc. and the board of directors of Louisiana Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.;
•One licensed contractor in the field of mechanical construction selected from nominations submitted by the president and secretary of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Louisiana, Inc.;
•One licensed contractor in the field of electrical construction selected from nominations submitted by the board of directors of the Louisiana Council of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Inc.;
•Two subcontractors in the construction industry in fields other than electrical or mechanical construction selected from nominations submitted by the presidents and secretaries of the chartered American Subcontractors Associations of the state of Louisiana;
•One licensed contractor in the area of oil field construction selected from nominations submitted by the board of directors of the Louisiana Oil Field Contractors Association, Inc; and
•Two at-large members who do not earn their livelihood in a construction-related industry.
Lee Mallett, of Lake Charles, is the owner of Mallett, Inc., a construction and mold remediation contracting company. Mallett will serve as a subcontractor in the construction industry in fields other than electrical or mechanical construction selected from nominations submitted by the presidents and secretaries of the chartered American Subcontractors Associations of the state of Louisiana, as required by statute
